GoldShield South Africa

Testing

Intensive care units:

Goldshield’s antimicrobial technology has been proven in three clinical trials which have been published in the American Journal of Infection Control.

Among these trials is a nine-month study where Goldshield’s coating was applied to five high-touch points in 18 intensive care units. Through investigating over 60,000 cultures, it was determined that Goldshield could reduce bioburden by three to four log.

Goldshield has run the only study that shows a direct correlation between the use of chemistry on surfaces with reductions in healthcare associated infections.

Chopping Board Test

We tested Goldshield antimicrobial spray on an ordinary kitchen chopping board.

Prior to treatment with Goldshield, the bacterial presence measured 53.  Goldshield 75 was applied and the bacterial activity was tested again the following morning with the result being 1.

Proof that Goldshield really works!

Meat Processing Plant

We put Goldshield 75 Suface to the test to evaluate its effectiveness during normal operating conditions at a local meat processing facility.  The tests were conducted for one week from 9 – 23 September.

No operational changes were implemented during the test period and personnel continued their normal required hygiene practices and were not aware of the test taking place.

Two areas were selected at random and test swabs were collected to determine bacterial presence.  The selected areas were cleaned using regular method and then GS 75 was applied using a normal spray bottle set on a fine mist setting.

Goldshield was allowed to dry for 10 minutes before normal operations resumed.

Areas 1:  The test results indicated a significant reduction in bacterial presence after one week with a 90% reduction in total bacterial count (TBC). It must be noted that any number under 30 is classified as “bacteria free”

Area 2:  The test results indicated a significant reduction in bacterial presence after one week with a 95% reduction in total bacterial count (TBC). It must be noted that any number under 30 is classified as “bacteria free”

The application of GS 75 to surfaces within the work and retail areas can significantly reduce the presence of bacteria at the meat processing plant.
